Climate Change

The climate crisis is real and urgent and Denver has a tremendous opportunity to be a national and global leader on climate action by applying a climate lens to every policy from land use to transportation, from housing to public health, from parks to water. I embrace the science-based targets of 65% carbon pollution reduction by 2030 and 100% by 2040 and commit to taking action as Mayor to help Denver reach them. I view these goals as ambitious but essential and only possible to attain through public-private alignment and regional collaboration. I bring the public and private sector relationships and track record of successful collaboration necessary to advance this work.

With strong support from Denver voters, our city has taken important steps in recent years to lay a solid foundation for success. We have secured a dedicated local funding stream to support climate action priorities, established a sound five-year plan for action and built a nationally-recognized Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency. This strong infrastructure and Jobs Act, mean Denver is poised to make significant progress. I will use the power of the office to ensure we achieve our promise.
